let vacation commence!

It's official now. I'm on vacation!

After spending a few hours at work yesterday, I went to my mom's house with the kids for a baking afternoon. Sadly, I didn't bring my camera, but we had a productive--if undocumented--afternoon. We made crab-stuffed twice-baked potatoes, roll dough, and a molded salad for tonight's dinner, as well as homemade sugar cookies and fabulous fudge. We enjoyed working together and taste-testing along the way.

The best part of the day was having popcorn and M&Ms for dinner in the family room while watching my favorite Christmas movie: It's a Wonderful Life.

No--I take it back. The BEST part was not setting my alarm for this morning and sleeping in a bit.

Ahh--vacation!

Sounds familiar! Michelle and I started our vacation last night about 10:00pm (Christmas Eve!).

While I wish so much the photos were taken, I can imagine the whole event and feel a pang of jealousy. Michelle and I made crab stuffed potatoes too (without the shells!!) Shell said I'd better tell you about it before we got accused of making a " new recipe"---it actually came from a day that I ran out of time last week. I made a very fine brand of instant mashed potatoes and then added all the necessary ingredients. It's a great trick and a lot less work.

Wish we could be together together.

And, p.s. I will definitely be sending Bernard's gift on!! We loved it!!! (I'm sure he will too.)

Loving and missing you, my sweetest sister. Give all my hugs.

What a wonderful time with your Mom! The parents were actually the first to wake up in our house this time, mostly because Charlie came to our door wanting to go out. I hope you have a relaxing season! Love you!

ps. I need to talk some sense into Michael and his resistance to my favorite movie. Maybe tonight...?

I would love to have seen pictures from your day of baking, but will have to be content imagining them instead. I'm sure having 3 generations happily baking together made for a great day.

Hooray for vacation! I love the photo and am sharing your joy. We're pretty much snowed in for Christmas today and it's great!
